Dojo Kun (Rules)
Dojo Kun are traditional rules set out to help members understand the philosohy and practical aims of training. Underpinning them are the western systems of rules of grading, risk management, policies and procedures, coaching certificates and blue card police checks.

Mission:
Brisbane Aikido Republic strives to learn, study and promote the martial art of aikido through diligent practice, knowledge and active links to the founder of aikido. We welcome serious men and women to join us for the practice of aikido.
aikido n. A Japanese martial way studying the principle of joining rather than fighting with an opponent.

I am mind itself.
If I hold positive thoughts in my mind, good things are likely to happen.
Holding negative thoughts in my mind works against my best interests.
Therefore, even if my body suffers physically, my mind remains optimistic.
Even if I encounter obstacles, my mind is never defeated.
Daily I fill my heart with thoughts of joy, gratitude and hope.

Practice
1. To operate as traditional dojo based on sempai kohai concepts of leadership and responsibility for each others development and safety.
2. To have all members act as both teacher and student through the traditional roles of uke and nage, lead by a designated instructor
Lineage
3. To follow traceable lineage of aikido, principally through Maruyama sensei’s Aikido Yuishinkai.
4. To inform our practice through interaction with other Aiki schools and like minded arts and professional development
5. To endevour to drink from a flowing stream of knowledge at a personal and dojo level
Operational
6. All Members responsible for each other. Instructors are responsible for classes. The head instructor is responsible for the dojo.
7. Commit to best practice as outlined in policy and procedures and informed through affiliations and professional development
8. We operate as a not for profit association through the Queensland Dept of fair trading
All members follow and uphold the Aikido Republic Policies and Procedures manual, which formalise the above in a structured and programmed way and are available at the dojo.
