Mt Gravatt Show Grounds

Just across the road from the dojo is the Mt. Gravatt Showgrounds, a hold over from when local shows were all the range, the show grounds has been running the Mt. Gravatt show for almost a hundred years. It includes all the usual carnie attractions of rides, local foods and fireworks in the evenings (done at a suitably early hour for the littlies).

The grounds are used year round for the Sunday farmers markets, various local festivals of all nationalities, cars shows, book fares and sporting events. it receives little financial support and some years ago fought to not have a shopping centre built there. the case eventually went all the way to the privy court in the Uk and they lost. The only condition was that the shopping centre would have to vacate 2 weeks of the year for the show to run....so today we have the show grounds and no shopping centre.

There are many building on the show grounds and it acts as a local hub for various clubs to run their activities. We ran an international seminar here, it was very hot , but very convenient as a space.
